Mountain biking with kids? Check out the South Suburban Loop in the Stratton Open Space

Nestled at the mouth of Cheyenne Canyon in Southwest Colorado Springs is the Stratton Open Space, a favorite among residents of all ages in the surrounding neighborhoods. Stratton Open space is a gateway to hardcore riding from the Chutes and up into the Canyon but it’s what’s below that brings families together.

The lower part of Stratton Open Space is an old maintenance road that gradually climbs up to the Gold Camp Reservoir and South Suburban reservoirs and is great for kids and new riders alike. The trail is hard packed red gravel and provides a wide road in which to get tires acquainted to dirt.
